Dr. Aziz has been a member of the Board since 2017.

Dr. Aziz is currently President of the International Medical University (IMU) Health Group and Vice–Chancellor/Chief Executive Officer of IMU. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Medical College (IMC). Dr.Aziz oversees and is responsible for the entities under the IMU Health Group, namely, IMU, IMC and IMU Healthcare. As Vice–Chancellor and CEO of IMU, Dr.Aziz provides institutional leadership and oversight, developing and driving the mission, strategies and direction of the university.

Dr. Aziz is currently overseeing the development of IMU Academic Health Centre with the construction of the IMU Hospital as well as a network of supporting clinics and an ambulatory care centre slated to begin operations in early 2021.

Dr. Aziz has wide experience in medical education. He held various leadership positions within the Medical School of University Sains Malaysia (USM), as Dean, Deputy Dean and Head of Department of Medicine.He has been a member of the Council of Medical School Deans of Malaysia as well as the Malaysian Medical Council from 2006 to 2013. He is a committee member of the MMC/MQA/JPA Joint Technical Committee and he was elected as a Council Member of the Vice–Chancellors of Private Universities Council in January 2019. He is also on the technical expert panel (Medicine) for the MQA.
