About the Programme
 

The Community and Family Case Study (CFCS) programme is designed to provide medical students the opportunity to learn more about the patient, their family and their community. They do this by partnering with a patient who has a chronic medical condition and over the course of two years, visiting them at their home at least six times. During this time, the students get to learn more about the medical problems of the patient and family.

After prioritising the health needs of the patients, the students deliver health promotion interventions that can improve the disease progression and quality of life of the CFCS patient and their family. This can be through health education on diet and exercise, importance of monitoring disease with medical equipment such as glucometer and blood pressure monitor, and use of rehabilitation equipment to manage clinical issues.  The students then prior and it’s impact. Students will assist selected CFCS patients to  and provides a good opportunity for them to deliver health education that will improve their provide educating them about good health choices and practices.

Partnership with IMU Foundation


IMU Foundation functions as avenue of assistance in providing financial support for patients who cannot afford rehabilitative equipment or medical devices such as BP monitors, through the CFCS programme. This medical equipment is being provided to underprivileged individuals, enabling them to better manage their condition and enhance their quality of life. Additionally, students have the opportunity to educate patients on how to use the equipment and monitor its usage, reinforcing its effectiveness. This hands-on involvement offers students a more meaningful and practical learning experience.
